Kirkby Summit box opened on 11th September 1995 to control stage 2 of the Robin Hood line. It stands on the site of the fomer LMR type 15 of the same name provided when BR diverted the existing line onto the formation of the former GNR to avoid Kirkby-in-Ashfield town centre and eliminate two level crossings.
